Ellary Elizabeth ...

Much to our shock - and the shock of all our friends and family - Ellary Elizabeth decided to grace us with her appearance 4 weeks and 1 day before her due date.  Her birth was what we like to call "Fast and Furious" and is definitely a story we will never forget {and to ensure that, I'll type it all out below}

Starting on the evening of Sunday, April 2nd {the last day of our spring break} I was peeing my pants off and on - or atleast so I thought.  When we went to bed that night I went to the bathroom, crawled into bed - remember hearing a little popping noise and then felt myself pee a little.  I hopped up and went to the bathroom with a change of bottoms thinking how that was odd.  In the middle of the night when I got up to go to the bathroom, again when I returned to bed and laid down I peed a little.

I pulled up Google {which lets be honest you should never do} and literally typed in "Can you be pregnant, go the the bathroom and then pee your pants right away?"  Everything I read said that is normal, that you must not be emptying your bladder and when you move the pressure might make it empty more.  That night I got up pretty much every 30 minutes to go to the bathroom - it was horrible.

Monday morning we got up to report back to work after spring break and I just didn't feel good.  I had a pain in my lower tummy that would make me stop what I was doing any catch my breathe.  I didn't think anything of it - thinking that must be braxton hicks contractions - after all we still had a month to go.  I went to work and right away was looking forward to 3:30 when I could go home and take a nap - I struggled through the day not feeling good and just needing to sit {which is hard to do when teaching Kindergarten}.

That evening I came right home and took a nap and pretty much didn't leave the couch.  I did "pee" my pants again but again, thought nothing of it because some of the ladies at work said that would occasionally happen to them as well. The hubs dad was having surgery in Ann Arbor on Tuesday morning and so the hubs was going to go down after school and stay the night, returning for our weekly doctors appointment on Wednesday.  I asked him if we could wait to see how I was feelign Tuesday because I wasn't sure I wanted to be alone. That night I didn't get up as often in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and actually got a decent amount of sleep.

Tuesday morning I woke up feeling a bit better.  I got ready for the day having to stop occasionally for that darn pain again. My principal came in during my Language Arts block to do my final observation of the year - I was so nervous I'd have to run out to go to the bathroom but thankfully I made it through without having to leave.  When I was dropping the kinders off at lunch my principal asked how I was feeling, I told her, "I'm pretty much done with being pregnant." {mind you I have felt superb the entire time and didn't have a single thing to complain about}.  She said she could tell and she was glad she came to observe me today because she wasn't sure how long I'd be there.  In the teachers lounge at lunch I was telling everyone how I just didn't feel good and explained the the pain I was feeling.  They all said it must be her making her way down.

The hubs came down to my room a couple times to check on me and I told him I still wasn't feeling well. I felt bad but I really didn't want him leaving to go down to Ann Arbor.  At the end of the school day my coworker came in and said maybe I should call my doctor just for peace of mind since I still wasn't feeling well.  I called and talked to the nurse, she thought I might have a UTI and that's why I was in pain and peeing so often.  We moved up my appointment the next day and they told me to go to the hospital in Cadillac to leave a urine sample so they'd have results in the AM.

The hubs and I then headed to Cadillac {about 25 minutes from home} to leave the sample.  On the way there the hubs started to time my "pain" {which we now know were contractions} and they were about 10 minutes apart.  I left my urine sample and we headed back home.  We stopped to get gas when we got back into LC and at that point my contractions were 5 minutes apart.  While pumping gas the hubs called his sister, who's a PA, and told her what was happening.  She said to go to the hospital NOW!

I was so convinced that we weren't having a baby I told the hubs I just needed to get home and lay down and I'd be fine. We got home, I laid on the couch and the hubs heated up some left over monkey bread for me - as he was bringing it over to me I was having another contraction and he said, "I'm packing a bag, we're going to TC now."  I tried to go upstairs and help him throw clothes for me in a bag - but I had to lay down on the bed and tell him what drawers to grab what out of.  I had him grab the baby's bag too, just incase {which in my OCD ways I already had packed}.

We weren't sure what to do with the dog.  Our plan was always to bring him to my parents, who live 2 minutes from the hospital, but they were currently at Disney with my sister and her family.  We called some friends, explained what was going on and they said not to worry they'd come get Otis.  So , up to TC we went.

At this point the contractions were very painful and coming faster - the hubs asked me to tell him when one ended and honestly, it was hard to tell.  After we were on the road for a bit we realized we didn't grab the car seat.  The hubs asked if we should turn around and get it - I, again convinced we weren't having a baby today, told him it was fine and if we did need it someone else would bring it up to us I'm sure.

The hubs continued to time the contractions and by the time we got to TC they were 2 minutes apart.  A drive that normally would take 45-60 minutes took us 30 minutes --- needless to say the hubs knew we had to get there and get there fast.

We pulled into the ER at the hospital, the hubs jumped and ran out saying he thought his wife was in labor.  They brought a chair out for me - the hubs asked what to do with the car and the security guy said he wasn't suppose to but that he'd park it for us.  They wheeled me down to a room in the maternity ward to get checked in.  I remember telling the guy pushing me, "I'm going to feel really stupid if this is nothing."  He told me not to worry about that.

We got into the room and the nurse asked how I was feeling - I told her I needed to push.  She asked if anyone had checked me, we said no.  So they got me into a gown, hooked up monitors to listen to baby girl, and the doctor came in to check me.  Well, wouldn't you know I was at a 9! She said we'd have a baby within two hours.  I was so worried and just kept asking if baby girl was okay. They assured me she was. The doctor asked me what my plan was for pain management - I told her to give me whatever she could, to which she replied it was too late and I couldn't have anything.  The hubs said he was happy he wasn't on the other end of that conversation with the face I gave her. ha!  I kept apologizing for swearing and the nurse assured me that what happens in maternity stays in maternity and they've heard much worse.

At this point they quickly wheeled me down to my room in the maternity wing - I remember them warming me about bumps, my eyes were closed from the pain and occasionally I opened my eyes and saw ceiling tiles moving by and still couldn't believe this was happening!

We got into our room and a slew of nurses appeared. Since I was 4 weeks early the NICU was in there in addition to everyone else.  They were trying to hook up my IV in between contractions and something wasn't hooked up correctly so when they got it in blood squirted everywhere.  At this point I had started pushing - I remember grabbing the side of the bed and telling the hubs to text my dad that we were having the baby.  I kept telling him to take pictures too.

They had me roll on my side to get baby girls heart rate to slow down, made me breathe through some contractions {that's not fun} and told me that yelling wasn't helping baby girl {but it was helping me deal with the pain!}. I started pushing again - while on my left hand side - and after 15 minutes of pushing - Ellary was here!

Was it how I had thought birthing my first child would happen in my mind, not at all.  But the crazy thing is - everything worked out.  We didn't have the baby in the car {thank goodness!} and although she was early, Ellary was healthy and didn't need to be whisked away at all. Do I wish our parents could have been there - without a doubt.  Did it hurt to call my mom afterwards and know that she was devastated she was missing her baby have her first baby, yes - but I told her it was okay, we'd be here after their vacation :)

So 24 minutes after arriving at the hospital our beautiful baby girl was in our arms.  I am so very thankful that the hubs trumped me and said we were going to the hospital.  We joke that for the next baby I'll have to move in with my parents once we hit 30 weeks :)

Bump: 35 Weeks ...

How Far Along: 35 Weeks

Total Weight Gain:   42.8 pounds

Size of Baby: A punch of carrots, a child's backpack

Maternity Clothes: Mix of maternity and Lularoe still

Sleep: I ditched the pregnancy pillow and have been sleeping SOOO much better!

Food Cravings: Chocolate

Food Aversions: Nothing really.

Gender: Girl :)

Symptoms: The need to pee ALL the time is still happening ...

Milestones: 35 weeks down and 35 days to go!

Movement: Lots of movement felt in the evenings and mornings.

Best moment of the week:  Being able to be lazy with Spring Break - nothing beats slow mornings, lazy afternoons, and late nights :)

Looking forward to: The rest of Spring Break ... soaking up the last of these lazy days as a family of two {plus our pup}.  And, our appointment for April 5 where we'll get to see baby girl again and find out how big she currently is!

Extra Notes: This past weekend we headed down to Hastings for the hubs first bike race.  The car ride was NOT fun ... I was not feeling well that day and could not for the life of me get comfortable.  My hips killed and I kept thinking what a mistake it was to get into a car for a 2 hour ride.  At one point I thought to myself the honeymoon of this pregnancy is over and the next 6 weeks {give or take} will officially suck!  Thankfully, after taking a Tylenol the pain subsided.

I also started having some braxton hicks contractions this past week - while it freaked the hubs out a little, I assured him all was okay :)

From the mouth of Kinders - this week I go, "Mrs. Webb, you're stomach is hard like a bouncy ball."  :)

Bump: 34 Weeks ...

How Far Along: 34 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 41 pounds

Size of Baby: According to my app, cabbage, basketball hoop, Baguette Batard

Maternity Clothes: Mix of maternity and Lularoe still

Sleep: The last couple nights have been rough - getting up a lot to go to the bathroom and just not able to get comfortable.

Food Cravings: Cereal and sweets.

Food Aversions: Meat - tried to eat tacos the other night, that didn't go so swell!

Gender: Girl :)  {although all the dreams I've had about baby - it's been a boy!}

Symptoms: Still peeing ALL the time! And the tiredness, I need a nap after work almost daily.

Milestones: None that I know of.

Movement: Lots of movement felt in the evenings and mornings.

Best moment of the week:  Baby shower in TC this last weekend - it was so nice to see so many women from different stages in my life come together.  Great to catch up and see some that I haven't seen in years!

Looking forward to: Spring break!  A week of NOTHING - two more days ... we can do it!

Extra Notes: I had my tetanus and pertussis shot on Monday at my appointment - oh man it wiped me out! Yesterday I felt light headed and just sore all over and I'm still not feeling 100%.  Hoping I'm back to my normal self soon!

At school yesterday the kids could pick up that I wasn't feeling well {they had a little extra freedom} and one of the girls came up to me and asked what was wrong.  I told her that I just didn't feel good and had a little upset tummy, she started to just rub my back - it was the sweetest thing ever.

Bump: 33 Weeks ...

How Far Along: 33 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 41 pounds

Size of Baby: Cauliflower - She is between 17-19 inches long and 4-6 pounds!

Maternity Clothes: Mix of maternity and Lularoe still

Sleep: Sleep has been good again lately, and I haven't had to get up and pee which is an extra bonus!

Food Cravings: Sweets! This weekend I really wanted dump-it cake, so when grocery shopping I got the ingredients.  The hubs was working at school when I made it, he came home and saw a pan on the stove and asked what I made for dinner. "Ummm ... its a cake, I wanted cake." haha! :)

Food Aversions: None really.

Gender: Girl :)

Symptoms: Peeing ALL the time! I'm always desperately searching for someone to come in my room so I can quickly run to the bathroom - pretty sure I know when every person around me has prep so I can pull them in for a second to make a run for it!  The heart burn has picked up again too!

Milestones: None that I know of.

Movement: Lots of movement felt in the evenings!

Best moment of the week:  While the hubs was out of town Otis was super cuddly with me {he's been a Daddy's boy lately} so that was nice.  He was using baby girl as a pillow and even got kicked a couple times ;)

Looking forward to: Baby shower this weekend up in TC.  I can't wait to see friends and family!

Extra Notes:  It's hard for me to get comfortable - sitting is NOT comfortable which make it rough getting through the work day and meetings.  And when laying down, my legs will ache and I'm constantly moving then to try and get comfortable. I'd much rather be standing up but I'm just too tired to stand up 24/7 ;)

My brother and SIL gave us their infant car seat {along with two bases and a stroller it can snap into - they're AWESOME!} and D picked it up this week while downstate for a conference.  Of course as soon as it got here I had to wash the padding {OCD much?!} and then Otis tried it out :)

My kinders have been GREAT throughout this pregnancy.  I've hit the stage where it's hard to bend down to pick up things.  They have definitely picked up on that, so if I drop anything there are 5 kiddos running to pick it up for me.  Also, they have learned that in order for me to tie their shoes we need to find a chair for me to sit in while they kick their foot up on my leg or they lay on the floor and kick their foot up.  It's pretty hilarious!

Bump: 32 Weeks ...

How Far Along: 32 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 39.7 pounds

Size of Baby: Florida Pomelo

Maternity Clothes: Mix of maternity and Lularoe still

Sleep: I've been getting charlie horses and leg cramps during the night which makes sleep a bit rough, not fun! I was good with falling asleep after getting up to go to the bathroom too but that hasn't been happening as easily lately either.

Food Cravings: Sweets!

Food Aversions: None really.

Gender: Girl :)

Symptoms: By the end of the work day I'm super tired, just like during the first trimester.

Milestones:

Movement: Lots of movement felt in the evenings!

Best moment of the week:  Seeing so many friends and family at the baby shower on Saturday.  I'll admit, I don't like being the center of attention so it was a bit overwhelming, but it was still so great to see everyone and Baby Girl got some amazing things. She's blessed for sure!

Looking forward to: Really looking forward to spring break which is quickly approaching.  A week to relax ---- ahhh!

Extra Notes:  We got the nursery pretty much ALL done this past weekend!  We were gifted the curtains and crib skirt at the shower that the hub's mom made so we go those put up.  We also got everything hung on the walls and found a GREAT deal on an area rug which is PERFECT for the space!  All that's left to do is spray paint a table and a basket - and there's one wall that the hubs says needs something hung so we'll figure that one out too :)

Bump: 31 Weeks ...

How Far Along: 31 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 39.7 pounds

Size of Baby: Romaine Lettuce

Maternity Clothes: Mix of maternity and Lularoe still

Sleep: I'm currently on the struggle bus with this one.  I'm a tummy sleeper by nature which just isn't possible anymore - so I struggle to get comfortable and maintain sleeping.  I toss and turn a LOT!

Food Cravings: Lucky Charms and Ice Cream {not at the same time}

Food Aversions: None really.

Gender: Girl :)

Symptoms: Continuing on the heartburn train ... tums are my BFF currently. Some pain up near my ribs when sitting up - needless to say the minute I get home I'm laying down on the couch. :)

Milestones: All five senses are fully developed!

Movement: She's moving a TON in the evening and sometimes even during the work day.  I love just looking at my tummy and seeing it move from her - something I'm sure I'll miss when she's on the outside! The other day I was sitting down reading with a group of students during centers, one of them blurts out, "Mrs. Webb, your tummy just moved!" I explained that it was the baby and it's okay - I begin to read once again with them and notice noone is saying anything, I look up and all four kiddos are starring at my stomach ;)

Best moment of the week:  A blanket arrived this week that I ordered with her first and middle name on it ... it makes it feel SO much more real when things start rolling in that are specifically JUST for her!

Looking forward to: We have our first baby shower on Saturday! Super excited to see family and friends in the GR area!

Extra Notes:  We've started to buy some diapers - figure we're going to need them so why not start to slowly acquire them.  I had to give the hubs a little lesson in diapers at the store to ensure that if he's ever sent out on a diaper run he'll bring back the right ones ;)

Last night I had my first craving and REALLY wanted a paczki.  I asked the hubs {at around 9}if he'd go get one for me and he just rolled his eyes.  Well, his principal and our friend came to the rescue and brought me a box of 6.  He said a pregnant lady needs options :)  And I have to say, it tasted SO good!

Bump: 30 Weeks ...

How Far Along: 30 Weeks

Total Weight Gain:  39 pounds

Size of Baby: Summer cantaloupe, motorcycle helmet, platypus

Maternity Clothes: Mix of maternity and Lularoe still

Sleep: It's continuing to be a struggle.  I can't seem to get comfortable and toss and turn a lot at night and have just now started to get up around 3/4am  to go to the bathroom which is annoying. :)

Food Cravings: Sweets! I'm trying my best to limit them though!

Food Aversions: None really.

Gender: Girl :)

Symptoms: Heartburn and getting tired again ...

Milestones: She's 3/4 baked!

Movement: When I finally sit down and relax in the evening I get to feel her moving and grooving around.

Best moment of the week:  Hearing her heartbeat at the doctors on Monday ... all sounded well and we'll go back in a month! And seeing her move on the OUTSIDE for the first time.  Such a weird feeling to look down and see my stomach moving from something in it.

Looking forward to: Baby showers! Our first one is in a week and a half - can't wait to get together with some great friends and family!

Extra Notes:  We're beginning to really get things together for the nursery.  I have the gallery walls all mapped out, and paper on the walls where the hubs has to hang everything. :)  We also have been looking at carpet/a rug to put in there - so many choices!

This week I tried on one of my dresses for work - while it fit, I felt like I looked like I was as big as a house - the hubs just looked at me and said, "It's the pleats, you can't do pleats."  That one went to the WAY back of the closet for now. :)

Best moment of the week:  Otis has been giving the bump some serious cuddles this week which has been super cute.  I worry how he'll adjust (crazy puppy mom I know) but it seems like he loves her already :)

Looking forward to: A three day weekend and doctors appointment on Monday, always enjoy hearing baby girls heart beat!

Extra Notes:  Pregnancy brain is a real thing ... this weekend the hubs was looking for the milk and couldn't find it.  I knew I had JUST opened up a new container of almond milk ... we went searching for it - yup, I had put it on TOP of the refrigerator with the cereal I put away.  Oops!

Sleep: I will wake up in the middle of the night and be wide awake - after playing on my phone and reading for a little I eventually fall back asleep.

Movement: I feel her at night.

Best moment of the week: Time spent with college girlfriends!

Looking forward to: First forensics tournament this weekend! While I'm not looking forward to having to be ready by 4:45am, knowing that this is the last season I'll probably be going to all the tournaments is a little sad!  I'll have to stay back with baby girl next year.

Extra Notes:  While downstate this past weekend I picked up more things to hang in the nursery - we know have things complete for two little gallery wall collections.  I had to paint a couple things {We are hanging her initial instead of her name} so I got those done this week.  Can't wait to get that all hung!

My kiddos have now started to poke my belly.  When lining up this week, as they got into line a couple of them just took a finger and poked my belly.  They thought they were sooooo funny ... hmmm .... ;)

Symptoms: Starting to get oh so tired and exhausted after the work day once again.

Milestones: According to my app we've reached our second viability milestone.

Movement: Moving and a grooving at night!

Looking forward to: Heading downstate this weekend to see my science girls! We haven't all been together in over two years!

Extra Notes:
This weekend we were up at the in-laws and the fabric arrived for the nursery.  I LOVE it!  I can't wait to get things made and hung up in her room!

I finished crocheting her blanket for her last night - I'm pretty sure I'll have to convince Otis the blanket isn't for him :)
